VEGETABLE PIZZA
Cooking time: 6-8 hours (including the pizza base preparation) Serves: 10-12
INGREDIENTS:
- Pizza Base:
- Refined Flour
- Active Dry Yeast
- Sugar
- Salt
- Black Pepper Powder
- Refined oil / Olive oil
- Lukewarm water
- Pizza Toppings:
- Pizza Base:
- In a large mixing bowl add 1 cup of lukewarm water. To this add 1 tablespoon of Active Dry Yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Mix properly. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes until bubbles appear on the liquid.
- After 15-20 minutes add 2 cups of Flour, salt and crushed black pepper as per your taste and 1 tablespoon of oil. Mix everything well and make a soft dough using some lukewarm water.
- Cover the bowl and let it rest for 6-8 hours (preferably overnight) in a warm place (inside microwave oven/ oven which is switched off and the door is closed)
- The dough will be ready when it will become double in size and will be very soft to touch. It will also have several air pockets inside.
- Once the dough is ready knead it again.
- Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough measuring 12-14 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch in thickness.
- Place this on a 12-14 inch greased oven plate and using a fork prick the rolled out dough to prevent it from inflating.
- Pizza:
- On the rolled out pizza dough spread the Tomato ketchup evenly throughout.
- Top it with 1 cup of grated mozzarella cheese.
- Next, add Sliced Onions, Sliced Green Bell peppers, Red Bell peppers, Yellow Bell peppers, Sliced Button Mushrooms, Sweet Corn and Black Olive.
- On top of all these add the remaining grated cheese.
- Sprinkle Red Chili Flakes and some Mixed Herbs on top.
- Bake the pizza in a preheated oven ( Oven or Microwave- convection mode) at 200 degree Celsius for 20 minutes.
- Once ready, cut in slices and serve immediately. Bon Appétit.
NOTE:
- While making the dough we have to keep certain things in mind. The water for dissolving the yeast should not be too hot or cold. It should be lukewarm.
- It is very important to let the yeast and sugar in the water rest for 15-20 minutes which activates the yeast.
- The dough should be soft and not hard.
- It must be covered and placed in a warm place for 6-8 hours. Preferably overnight. Although most of the recipes call for resting the dough for 1-2 hours but from my personal experience I have seen minimum of 6 hours is required. Don't worry the final outcome will be mind blowing.
- Prick the rolled out pizza with a fork to prevent it from inflating.
- Add toppings according to your wish. There are no restrictions. Add whatever u like. Some unique options are broccoli, artichokes, cauliflower florets, cottage cheese, pineapple, green peas, spinach, avocado.
- Don't forget to preheat the oven at 200 degree Celsius. Bake the pizza at 200 degree Celsius for 18-20 minutes.
- If you have a microwave, bake it similarly in Convection mode. The outcome will be just as good as oven pizza.
