Chilli Mushroom Recipe, Mushroom Manchurian Recipe

CHILLI MUSHROOM 

Cooking time: 25-30 minutes                                                             Serves: 4-6 



INGREDIENTS: 
  1. Oyster Mushroom chopped 
  2. Button Mushroom chopped
  3. Cubed Onions
  4. Cubed Green Bell Peppers ( Capsicum) 
  5. Cubed Yellow Bell Peppers
  6. Cubed Red Bell Peppers
  7. Spring Onion chopped
  8. Crushed Garlic
  9. Chopped Green Chillies 
  10. Cornflour
  11. Eggs
  12. Tomato Ketchup
  13. Soya Sauce 
  14. Vinegar
  15. Chilli Sauce
  16. Salt 
  17. Black pepper powder
  18. Sugar

METHOD: 
  1. In a large mixing bowl add the chopped oyster and button mushrooms (2 cups of each). To this add salt, black pepper powder, soya sauce, vinegar, pinch of sugar. Beat two eggs in the mushroom. Add cornflour as much required to form a sticky coating on the mushrooms. Marinate this for 10 minutes. 
  2. In a frying pan add refined oil for deep frying the mushrooms. Let it heat up. 
  3. When the oil is hot, add the marinated mushrooms one by one. Cook until its golden brown on both the sides. Strain the fried mushrooms and put on a plate. 
  4. In another pan add two tablespoon of oil. Let it heat up. To the hot oil, add crushed garlic (10-12 cloves), chopped green chillies (3-4) and fry for a minute. 
  5. To this add the cubed onions (2 medium sized) and cubed green, yellow, red bell peppers (1 large bell pepper each). Fry for 1-2 minutes. 
  6. Next add 2 teaspoon of vinegar, 2 tablespoon of each of soya sauce and tomato ketchup and 1 tablespoon of chilli sauce. Fry for a minute. 
  7. Add salt, sugar and black pepper powder as per your taste. 
  8. To this add the fried mushrooms and mix everything very well. 
  9. Add two cups of water in this and let it come to boil. 
  10. In a bowl add 4 tablespoons of water to 2 tablespoons of cornflour and mix well until all the clumps are dissolved. 
  11. Add this slurry to the mushroom and cook it until the gravy thickens. 
  12. Chilli Mushroom is ready.
  13. Garnish with some chopped spring onions and serve hot. Bon Appetit. 

NOTE:
  1. Chilli Mushroom is a Chinese recipe that is a very popular vegan dish relished all around the world. 
  2. Make sure you add quite an amount of green chillis, chilli sauce, black pepper and bell peppers which add a kick to the dish.
  3. Chilli mushroom can be made without gravy (dry) to have as an appetizer or with gravy which is eaten mostly with fried rice or noodles. 
  4. The fried chilli mushroom can be eaten itself.
  5. Use Mushroom according to your wish and availability. The most commonly used mushroom is Button mushroom. However, Oyster Mushroom fits the dish as well.
