Lassi recipe

SWEET LASSI or PUNJABI LASSI 
(Yogurt based Sweet Summer Drink)

Cooking Time: 5 minutes                                                                           Serves: 2-4



INGREDIENTS:
  1. Yogurt or Curd or Dahi
  2. Chilled Milk
  3. Sugar
  4. Ice cubes
  5. Black salt



METHOD:
  1. In a blender add 2 cups of homemade or store bought Yogurt.
  2. To this add 1 glass of chilled milk (water can be added in place of milk)
  3. Add sugar according to taste (approximately 4 tablespoons for this quantity)
  4. Finally add ice cubes.
  5. Blend everything for 1-2 minutes. 
  6. Pour in a glass or earthen pots (matkas). 
  7. Sprinkle some black salt on top. Serve chilled. Bon Appetite.


NOTE:
  1. Lassi is a very famous Punjabi beverage that is loved all over India especially during hot and humid Indian summer, It is a yogurt based drink that has a great cooling effect on our body hence it is an ideal summer drink. 
  2. Homemade yogurt is best for making lassi. However store bought yogurt will also do. Make sure to buy a full cream yogurt and not the fat free ones for the best taste. 
  3. Inplace of milk water can also be used to make Lassi.
  4. Add sugar as per your taste, Sugar substitutes can also be added in place of sugar.
  5. The drink is best served chilled.
  6. Seasonal fruits like mango can be blended along with all these ingredients to make mango lassi. Other variations are salt lassi, mint lassi, banana lassi, kesar lassi, badam lassi etc.
