For making the Cake:

  2. Dissolve 1 tsp of instant espresso in half a cup of boiling water.
  3. In the sifted dry ingredients add the wet ingredients one by one, i.e, half a cup of any flavorless oil (Vegetable oil, canola oil etc), half a cup of Buttermilk, half cup of coffee decoction and 1 tsp of Vanilla essence.
  4. Mix the wet and the dry ingredients with an electric hand blender or a balloon whisk or simply in food processor.
  5. Brush a baking dish with some oil and add in this cake mix.
  6. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 degree Celsius for 40 minutes.
  7. Insert a toothpick in the middle to check whether its cooked through.
For assembling the Black Forest Cake:
  1. Carefully cut the cake in 2/3 equal parts.
  2. Place one cake slice on a turn table and drench it with some sugar syrup to make it moist.

NOTES:
  1. It is always recommended to sift in the dry ingredients (flour, coco powder etc) in the wet mix to avoid any lumps and have a smooth batter.
  2. Buttermilk makes any cake really soft. It is a good replacement of eggs. If you want to add eggs add 2 eggs for this recipe.
  3. Use any kind of flavorless oil such as refined oil, vegetable oil, canola oil etc.
  4. Addition of coffee is optional. But coffee enhances the chocolate flavor. Add this and trust me you won't regret.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 30-40 minutes.
  6. You can also bake in the full power of your Microwave. Mine is 900 watt in which I bake for 4 minutes exactly. The time of baking will vary based on your machine.
  7. Frosting a cake can be little tricky in the beginning but with practice you will be able to master this art.
  8. Make sure to use cold whipped cream to frost the cake. Also, cool the cake completely before frosting.
